Paid source matching
Check source overlap without confusing similarity with plagiarism
Run plagiarism source matching alongside AI detection in a paid account scan, then review every match in context.
Clear availability
Plagiarism matching is included as a paid scan mode
The homepage preview checks AI-writing signals only. Source matching becomes available after sign-in when a scan credit is used.
Choose the combined mode
Before running a paid scan, select AI + Plagiarism. AI-only mode does not perform a source-matching request.
Inspect confirmed sources
The report lists accessible sources returned by the analysis provider, with match information to support closer reading.
Notice unverified candidates
A potential source may be reported even when it could not be accessed for confirmation. Genutext separates those candidates from verified matches.
Keep the judgements separate
A source match is not automatically plagiarism, and an AI score is not a similarity score. Each result needs its own review.
Two questions
AI detection and source matching do different work
Using both can provide more context, but neither decides whether a policy was broken.
| Question | AI detection | Plagiarism source matching |
|---|---|---|
| What it examines | Patterns in the submitted prose | Text overlap with sources available to the provider |
| What it returns | An overall AI signal and, in paid scans, sentence-level signals | A similarity-style score and source candidates |
| What it cannot prove | Authorship, tool use, intent or misconduct | That a match is uncited, intentional or academically improper |
| What a reviewer does next | Checks passages, process evidence and permitted-use rules | Opens sources, checks quotations, citations and common language |
Review workflow
Turn a match report into a careful source review
- 01
Open the reported source
Confirm that the source is accessible and that the matched passage really appears there. A title or URL alone is not enough.
- 02
Read the surrounding passage
Separate a substantive copied phrase from a quotation, reference entry, template, title, technical term or ordinary wording.
- 03
Check attribution
Look for quotation marks, citations and an accurate reference. Similar wording can be acceptable when it is transparently attributed.
- 04
Apply the relevant policy
Plagiarism is a human and policy judgement. Consider intent, convention, materiality and the writer's explanation before deciding.
Document limits
Choose the credit that fits the text you want checked
Paid scans require at least 300 characters. If a document is longer than the selected limit, only the first part is analysed.
| Credit | Current price | Maximum analysed text |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | £0.99 per scan | Up to 3,000 words |
| Extended | £2.49 per scan | Up to 8,000 words |
