Genutext's current UK fallback prices are:
- Standard credit: £0.99 for one scan up to 3,000 words.
- Extended credit: £2.49 for one scan up to 8,000 words.
Localised prices are also shown in USD, EUR, CAD and AUD before checkout. Credits do not expire, and a paid scan can run AI detection alone or include plagiarism source matching. The free public preview accepts 300 characters to 350 words and is AI-only.
GPTZero
GPTZero uses monthly or annual plans with word limits and different feature levels. Its official June 2026 comparison page states that a free plan covers 10,000 words per month and that paid plans start at $12.99 per month. Other official GPTZero articles published in 2025 list older tiers and prices, demonstrating why the live plan page should be checked at the point of purchase.
GPTZero's support centre says paid plans mainly expand request size and batch capacity, while educator plans also use education-specific data and thresholds. Team and enterprise pricing can require a sales conversation.
Practical difference: occasional users can spend less in a month with individual Genutext credits. A frequent user may get more throughput and additional tools from a GPTZero subscription. Calculate against your real monthly volume.

Plagiarism and source checking
AI detection and plagiarism checking answer different questions. AI detection classifies writing patterns; plagiarism checking looks for text overlap with sources.
Genutext lets a paid user choose AI only or AI plus plagiarism for the same credit. GPTZero also offers a plagiarism checker within its current product suite, with access and usage depending on plan.
Do not compare only the presence of a check box. Ask:
- which sources are included in the comparison database;
- whether quotations and references can be reviewed;
- how matches are presented;
- whether the report exposes source links; and
- what usage limit applies to plagiarism scans.

Privacy and history
Genutext states that submitted text is processed and discarded. It stores account, payment and scan-summary metadata, but not the submitted writing or detailed report in scan history. Users should still have authority to upload the document and should not submit prohibited confidential material.
GPTZero offers a wider set of saved, collaborative and authorship features, so users should inspect the current privacy policy, retention controls, institutional terms and settings relevant to their plan. Broader workflow can be valuable, but it creates a different data-handling decision from a deliberately transient report.
For student work, use only an institutionally approved service and follow the applicable privacy notice and data-protection assessment.
